How does Micro-needling work?
Micro-needling involves a trained medical practitioner using a handheld device to create hundreds of microscopic needle impressions in the skin on the face or body. As the treatment pen is passed over the face, it creates micro-injuries and prompts the derma, a deeper layer of skin, to mount a healing response, delivering a natural collagen boost. The tiny channels in the skin made by the needles also allows for deeper absorption of topical treatments after treatment.
What is Micro-needling good for?
As well as general rejuvenation, micro-needling is an effective treatment for a range of different skin concerns, such as:
- Decreased skin elasticity
- Enlarged pores
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Sun damage
- Uneven skin tone
- Acne scars
Why is in-clinic micro-needling different to at home dermarolling kits?
At-home dermarolling kits, which only use needles <0.5mm, can be useful for helping topical products and serums to penetrate the skin more deeply, however they do not produce the collagen boosting effects of in-clinic treatments. Medical grade needles of >0.5mm are required for the full benefits of Microneedling. Microneedling with needles longer than 0.5mm should only ever be carried out by a trained medical professional.
What is Electronic DermaStamp® (EDS)?
The Electronic DermaStamp is an award-winning clinical micro-needling device, proven to dramatically reduce the appearance of lines, wrinkles and acne scarring, revealing tauter, brighter, fresh-looking skin.
How often can I have Micro-Needling Done?
Micro-needling is recommend a course of treatments, rather than a one off, to ensure consistently good results. We recommend leaving 6 – 8 weeks between treatments. Ask your medical practitioner how often they would recommend based on your individual skin type.
Does Microneedling Hurt?
Micro-needling might sound like it should be very painful but it reality most people only experience slight discomfort. The needles used in the procedure are very small and the wounds are extremely shallow, meaning you’ll feel very little and the wounds heal quickly. It is this healing effect that gives your skin the vital collagen boost that causes the rejuvenated skin and reduced imperfections.
